And now, I choose only three words

A complaint & refund: When I arrived home, I saw a hole in the new dress. I came back to the shop to make a complaint but they didn't want to refund my money.
Furthermore: I'm convinced that you have been very impolite in that conversation. Furthermore, I'm sure that you are mistaken.

Hi Delia!

I'm having a nice weekend.

It's great to see that you have started in the blog. I am sure you will find it a useful extra. Explore the older posts too.

It's important to be able to use words as well as remember them. That's why I think this exercise is a useful one.

I will write the corrections in capital letters.

To boost: The boss of that company gave a boost to the sales; THEY GREW BY 10%.
(a boost = an improvement/an increase. boost = noun or verb. grow = increase, grow up = to become an adult)

A supply: The electricity supply was CUT OFF LAST week DUE TO a SEVERE storm.
(supply = verb or noun)

Tedious: He TOLD ME that the work would be very tedious, but I had to do it.
(tell + object pronoun)

A purchase: I think that you have MADE AN unnecessary purchase: you don't need this product to be THINNER
(to make a purchase, to purchase stg)

To work out = to calculate
We need to work out how much it will all cost.

Furthermore: I'm convinced that you WERE very IMPOLITE in that conversation. Futhermore, I'm sure that you are mistaken.

To hesitate: I DON'T DOUBT your words. I know you went to the doctor.
Ronaldo hesitated before taking the penalty and he missed.

On behalf of: I AM PHONING on behalf of MY BROTHER. HE HAS A PROBLEM WITH HIS COMPUTER. IS IT STILL UNDER GUARANTEE?
(on behalf of + person/organisation. still = continuing to happen)

As a gesture of goodwill: His present was a gesture of goodwill. He wanted to sort out the bad situation between THEM.

Concerned: I was concerned because I thought I HADN'T PASSED the exam.

A complaint & refund: When I arrived home, I NOTICED a hole in the new dress. I WENT BACK to the shop to make a complaint but they didn't want to refund my money.

Take a note of the more serious mistakes in your notebook.
