Hi Graham:

The football´s party of Europe has begun in Poland. In time of crisis the football can be a tranquilizer to decrease the pain. You said in your post of October of 2011 that Scottish People invented football more than 500 years ago. You should know a lot of football because your predecessors invented it. I don´t know very much now, but we can bet which team will be the winner, if you want. A bet without money.

I don´t know whether Scotland is in the party, but I think United Kingdom yes. I bet that the winner will be Spain and Spain will beat to United Kingdom in the final. France will be third and Germany will be fourth. I expect your bet. If Lucía and other classmates as Nicolas want to bet, okay, they can do it here.

See you soon. José.

José,

There is no UK team - I thought you'd have known that. grrrrrrr

Scotland didn't qualify yet again - we used to punch above our weight in the world of football but those days are gone.

England is participating this time. Do you think I am supporting them? See posts from 24Feb, 11Jun and 19 Jun 2010.

I usually support the underdog (unless it's England). It's boring if the same teams win all the time.

I wouldn't mind seeing Portugal lift the trophy. I'm sorry but I don't want Spain to win (shock, horror!!!!).

Hi Graham:

You like Robin Hood, always with the poorest, but you should know that Portugal is a great team. Ronaldo, Pepe and other footballers play in this team.

You say that Portugal will be the winner, but you have to designate the second and the third. Don´t worry, because Spain will beat England.

See you tomorrow. José.

Final: Portugal Vs Germany. Germany win.
3rd and 4th place: England Vs Italy. Italy win.
Spain returns home. We have to save some money. Their incentives can be invested in education and health.

See you next day. Nicolás.

José,

I know that Portugal is a strong team but they have never won the Eurocup.

I'll bet with my heart not with my head. I definitely don't want England, Spain or Italy to win. So who does that leave?

1. Portugal
2. Czech Republic
3. France

Apart from Portugal, the only other team not to win a Eurocup is England. But as you now know, under noooooo circumstances can I support them.

Am I like Robin Hood? I need a bow and arrow then. :-)

Nicolás,

I don't think that many people will be happy if Germany wins.

A thought has just occurred to me: how much do players get paid when they play for their country?

I remember each Spanish player got a €600,000 bonus when they won the World Cup. How much will they get if they win this time?

Nobody seemed to mind the last time. I wonder if it would be different this time.

See the post of 7 June 2010 to read about the World Cup bonus.

Have a go at the dictation that I've added to this post too.

Here you are:

1. Which team was in the lead at half time?
2. They drew one all the last time that they played
3. He dribbled pass three defenders to score a fantastic goal.
4. He scored an equaliser in the last minute of injury time.
5. I think the first half was more exciting than the second.
6. That wasn´t a fault. That was clearly a dive.
7. What time is the kick off?
8. The goalkeeper made an excellent save.
9. That was the worst defeat in the last five years.
10. I think the match is going to go to extra time.

I need extra time to write my comment about the bonus.

Hi Graham:

I said you was like Robin Hood because you are the defending or lawyer of poor and oppressed people, but I think don´t you like. I suppose he was English man. I´m sorry.

Nicolás: ¿Do you know that if Spanish football players lift the trophy, won´t pay tax in Spain?

See you tomorrow. José.

As far as I know, they don´t:

Have a look.

Nicolás.

Excellent!

I'll find out about the certificate when I'm at the school on Monday.

José,

There are worse people to be compared to than Robin Hood. :-)

I said you were like Robin Hood because you are the defender or lawyer of the poor and the oppressed, but I think you don't like being called that. I suppose he was an Englishman. I´m sorry.

Nicolás and José,

As far as I understand, it is up to each country's Football Association whether they get paid or not.

I've read that the English players get paid a "minimal amount", but they give that money to charity.

I wonder whether the Spanish players do the same and where the money comes from.

Hi Graham and blogmates:

The English language, the football and the blog are, really, an opportunity to be related and to know other people. This way everyone checks that is alive. I am delighted to have sharing a course of this blog, it was very fan. We have met a Scottish special man and, besides, he is honest. I hope you have a good trip and time, Graham, Lucía, Nicolás and other classmates. Thank you very much and see you soon. José.
