Don't feel guilty about having a lie-in!

Liking a lie-in in people's genes, researchers say

People who like a lie-in may now have an excuse - it is at least partly down to their genes, according to experts.

Experts, who studied more than 10,000 people across Europe, found those with the gene ABCC9 need around 30 minutes more sleep per night than those without the gene.

I love lie-in! Now I have an excuse :-) If I don't set my alarm I can't get up at time.. I always need it, even on holiday!!

I need some 15 min to get up, and I know me if I switch off the alarm...I can oversleep until 2 hours.

I usually oversleep at the week-end.

Majda,

Be careful! "to oversleep" and "to have a lie-in" aren't the same.

If you oversleep, you sleep too much and so you are late for something whereas if you have a lie-in, it's a luxury you give yourself when you have the time to stay longer in bed.

I can usually get up quite quickly. My problem is that I am so slow in the mornings. I can't RUSH. I take my time having breakfast and getting ready. I often go back to bed and have breakfast while watching TV.
