Hi Teresa!

I'm glad to see you making use of the blog.

Remember to use the labels to see posts from the past. Also, keep me informed about the links that you explore and any exercises that you do.

I was thinking of "impolite" for "maleducado".

The two that you didn't get were "quick-tempered" and "obnoxious".

All the others were right.

In the exercise, I was thinking of "bright" for NĀŗ9

See you on Thursday!

Laura,

All the others are fine except for I.

Ill-bred is a very old-fashioned term. Impolite was the adjective I was thinking of.

Good afternoon Gus,

It's 12.30 p.m. - in the UK, it'd be the afternoon already.

I'm still recovering from my run this morning. I don't know if it's very wise to take up running again.

We have to keep an open mind when we are translating. A word can be translated in many different ways.

B - bright is correct (though perhaps it is most often used to describe a child who is quick to learn) It is very commom to use euphemisms in English e.g. He isn't very bright = He is stupid. #idiom He isn't the sharpest tool in the box = He is quite dim. (dim is the opposite of bright - also used to describe light). Brainy also describes someone who is very clever but probably describes someone who is into subjects like nuclear physics or mathematics.

L - likeable. I spell it with an e but apparently (I looked it up), it can be spelt without it. Normally, I'd translate agradable as pleasant. Likeable means the person is easy to like.

N - Naughty usually describes a child who misbehaves. If it is used to describe an adult, it is said in a humourous way. Naughty can also suggest sex. e.g. There were some very naughty scenes in the film.

x - Obnoxious describes someone who is very unpleasant; you would never like being in their company. Insoportable, as you know, can also be translated as unbearable.

4. You're just jealous that you are not going on holiday too.

9. He's a very bright boy. He has good marks in all his subjects.

10. The boys and girls are generally well-behaved. If anyone is naughty, it'll probably be Juanito. (though impolite could fit too)

3 SENTENCES OF MY OWN

He was so stubborn that you always had to agree with him. (I wonder if you had me in mind when you wrote this šŸ„“ )

I met someone who was so fussy that he couldn't eat a plum without a knife and fork.

That man is very kind. He always greets you with a smile. (I think kindness is more than just giving someone a smile; it is more about being considerate to others, saying or doing something nice without expecting anything in return)
